Tips for Visiting Disney World in January (Disney World Tips – 310 of 365)

If you’re looking to visit Disney World in January, here are some things to take note of:
- January 1st (and usually the day or two after it) is very, very crowded! Unless you are purposely going for the new year celebration and don’t mind crowds, you’ll want to avoid this!
- The other holiday this month is Martin Luther Day, and since many get a Monday off of school for it, you’ll see the crowds a bit higher during the long weekend.
- If you don’t like hot weather, this is a good time to come. While there is a slight chance you might get to wear short sleeve shirts, it’ll usually be a bit too cold for that. But the temperatures are nice for walking around outside, maybe with a sweater or jacket.
- Many rides go down for refurbishment during this time, so you’ll want to check to make sure your favorite rides are open.
- Because of the time of year, you’ll find fewer crowds (except on the holidays mentioned above.) So if you like a quieter park, this is a good time of year to come.
- The Disney Marathon takes place during the 2nd weekend of January, but it doesn’t really affect the crowds too much.
- If you’re a night owl, this might not be the best time of year for you. Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios often close around 8pm or 9pm in January since the crowds are so light. Disney’s Animal Kingdom of course closes even earlier.
