Pick a Pearl (Disney World Tips – 137 of 365)
If you’re looking for a unique souvenir, consider doing a “pick a pearl” in Walt Disney World.
What happens, is you pick an oyster, and they will open it up for you and take out the pearl. The pearl is then yours to do with as you please.
It costs under $20 to pick the pearl, which makes it an inexpensive souvenir, but note that if you want to buy a jewelry setting, that is extra.
The jewelry settings they sell will allow you to have your pearl made into a necklace/earrings/ring/etc.. or you can bring it home and do whatever you want with it.
Once in a while you’ll find 2 pearls in one oyster! The pearl will vary in size and color, so you never know what you’re going to get.
If you want to do this, there are multiple places: The Japan pavilion in Epcot (at the Mitsukoshi store), at Typhoon Lagoon, at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, and even at Disney Springs (Formerly called Downtown Disney).
Many people say that the Japan pavilion is the most fun, as they will do a whole show while opening the oyster and measuring your pearl…but you will get your pearl at any of the locations.
