Check the Park Hours before Choosing a Park if you Don’t have a Park Hopper – (Disney World Tips – 16 of 365)
If you don’t pay extra for a park hopper, it means that you can only choose one park to go to each day.
While most of the time, the park hours are similar each day of the week while you’re at Disney World, there are a few things you should be aware of.
The first is during the fall and winter when Magic Kingdom hosts Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on select nights. Those nights, if you don’t purchase a separate ticket for the event, you’ll have to leave the park by 7pm. If you were hoping to spend the entire day there, you would end up losing hours of your day!
Early closings can happen at any time of the year though, at any of the parks for what is usually a private event. It doesn’t happen often, but the last thing you want to do is plan your day around a park that will be closing early and then you can’t go to another park that day.
What does this mean? Before you choose what parks you’re going to go to each day on your vacation, take a look at the schedule on Disney’s website. It’s up months in advance. Then you can decide which park to go to each day.
Don’t forget, if you’re staying on property, you can go early / stay late at certain parks each week with Disney’s Extra Magic Hours.
If it’s only a few months away from when you plan on going, you might even want to use the park hours schedule to help decide when you should travel. For example, in June the parks are open a lot later in the evening than in September. This is because there are a lot more people visiting Disney World in June. If you are traveling with people who prefer to be at the parks later into the night, you might want to travel when the parks will be open later.
Now, just because a park is closing earlier doesn’t mean that you have to avoid that park. Usually if a park is closing early, there will be less people going to that park. If you were planning on leaving early anyway, than this is a great way to be in a park that will usually be a little less crowded!
