The Disney Dining Plan

One thing you might not know about Walt Disney World, is that they offer a Disney Dining plan to help make it easier for you when planning your meals. For adults, it costs $35 dollars per person per day, but during some times of the year, there are specials and it can even be included in your stay. In October of 2005, we went and got the dining plan for free, which was great.

The dining plan includes for each night of your stay:

1 Counter Service meal: which includes an entrée, desert, and non-alcoholic beverage, or a combo, along with a non-alcoholic beverage

1 Table Service meal: which include an appetizer, entrée, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage, or buffet.

1 Snack: You can choose from an ice cream bar, fruit bar, popcorn, whole fruit, bag of chips, bottle of water, Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, or medium fountain soft drink.

Even your tips are included as part of this plan, so you walk in, eat, and leave, without having to worry about money at all!

You can use them throughout your trip, as you like. So for example, if you went with 1 other person, and you stayed for 3 nights, you would get on your account 6 counter service meals, 6 table service meals, and 6 snacks. You could use them in any order you want, and whichever for lunch or dinner, as you like.

The best part is, it doesn’t matter how much the meal costs, it is included in the plan. If you would like to see what restaurants are currently using the plan, check here. Most of the restaurants in all of the parks, as well as the hotels, Downtown Disney, and the Boardwalk are included, so you always have plenty of choices. Some of our favorites were Le Cellier Steakhouse at Epcot (Canada), Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki Dining Room (Japan), and Wolfgang Puck Café in Downtown Disney.

On our trip, we had some amazing meals. Most of the time we used the counter service for lunch, and had our table service for dinner. We had some great (and expensive otherwise) meals. Some of them would have cost us over $100, but for us were completely free. All of the waiters and waitresses were really nice, and even gave us suggestions on what to order.

I really recommend it, since the last thing on vacation you want to worry about is spending more money. I think that we will do this again next time, even if it is not part of a special deal, and we’re paying for it. With the amount of food you get, it is really worth the $35 per person per day. It was more then enough food, and sometimes we didn’t even use our snacks! We did eat a small breakfast in our room though, so that we didn’t have to buy anything.
