Travel Without Leaving Home (Explore.org Web Cams…Wow!)
For the past week or so, I’ve been watching bears in Alaska fish for salmon.
I didn’t even have to leave my house thanks to Explore.org and the many webcams that they have listed.
In the picture, there is only 1 bear fishing…but that picture was taken at 6:15 AM in Alaska, and most of the bears seem to start coming in later on in the morning. Some of the nights I’ve been watching, I’ve seen as many as 10-12 bears at once, including a mama bear with her 2 cubs. Talk about cute!
The bears in Alaska are just a few of the many webcams up at Explore.org. You can also watch polar bears in Denmark, penguins in Los Angeles, puffins in Maine, bison, whales, jellyfish, dogs, and even cats!
They’re from all over the world, and with just the click of your mouse, you can watch them. Since you can’t always be on vacation, this is a great way to spend a few minutes doing something that you used to only be able to do while you were away!
Watching the bears has been really incredible…and I find myself watching pretty often throughout the day, if only for a minute or two here and there.
You’ll notice that depending on the time of year, different web cams are more active. Obviously this is not the time to watch leaves falling in New England, but I bet that web cam is popular (and beautiful!) come the fall. And while the bears have thousands of visitors at a time to their web cams, in just over a month or so… no one will be watching again until next summer.
But if you feel like a trip…and you’re stuck at home in front of your computer, take a look at whatever web cam interests you. I assure you that you’ll enjoy it. They’re great fun, and you might even learn something!
Enjoy,
P.S. If you’re looking to book your next vacation, here are a few of my favorite places to search for low prices. Try Expedia, Hotels.com, or Priceline.
