Cruising with a specific activity in mind

How would you like to combine a cruise with one of your favorite hobbies? Many companies are now offering cruises for specific hobbies. Enjoy playing poker? Why not go on the latest poker cruise? (insert link to a poker cruise). Enjoy scrap booking? You have your choice of cruises where you can enjoy your cruise and scrapbook while at sea! Wish to learn something on your cruise? Take a geek cruise where you can learn Photoshop while on board.

All of these cruises use the ships “down-time” to offer classes, courses, or other fun. Most cruise itineraries offer at least 1 day at sea, sometimes with many more. These special cruises use the time where you are at sea to conduct these classes. That way you still have plenty of time at the ports to enjoy your cruise, but while at sea you can have fun, or learn something depending on the cruise.

Not sure what types of cruises you can take? (By the way, the cruise lines do not run these, but other companies that choose a cruise to offer their classes on, so you have many cruise companies, and many itineraries to choose from.)

Note: Each of the above have many websites with those types of cruises, I just chose one of each)

Also, these are just an example of some of the cruises available. If you’re interested in something else, just Google the interest plus the word cruise, and you might find a cruise that you would enjoy!

While I have not yet taken a cruise like any of the ones mentioned above, I can see why one would enjoy it. I’m not big on sitting by the pool on the cruise ship, so when there are days at sea, sometimes I wish I had a little more to do. This would be perfect, plus it would combine something I enjoy, plus traveling (which I obviously enjoy), so I think it would make the cruise even more fun! As I find out about more similar types of cruises, I’ll let you know about them.
