Take Pictures of These Things to Remember Your Trip Better

While you’re on your vacation, you always think you’ll remember everything about your trip.

But it always happens. You come home, and someone asks you a specific question – and you’re stumped. It could be that you didn’t remember what you did on Tuesday afternoon (even though it was only a week ago). It could be that you don’t remember which restaurant you had lunch in, or something else.

While this can get annoying, it can be even more of a problem if you’re creating a photo book, or are trying to give recommendations to a friend…or are even planning a trip a few years down the line to the same location.

This is why I recommend taking pictures of some the following things while you’re on vacation. It may seem silly now, but it could come in handy later! All I can say is thank goodness for digital cameras. Now we can take as many pictures as we want and it doesn’t cost us anything extra!

Now, this is just a starting point. Use this and go from here. Taking different types of pictures will help you remember your trip better and give you more to choose from in your photo book (if you create one) when you get home.

Here’s a start to your list.

While on vacation, take pictures of:

  • Restaurants you eat at – you never know when you’ll want to remember where it was you ate. A picture of the front of the restaurant or a menu can really help later on.
  • The food you ate – if it was a memorable meal (either really good or really bad), take a picture of it. That way you’ll remember what it was you had there, and if you enjoyed it or not.
  • The location you are when you go somewhere. Going to a museum? Take a pic. of the outside. Even if you’re going to spend a decent amount of time in a store try to take a pic of the outside. I hate when I come back from vacation and there are hours missing from my trip and I can’t remember what I did because I took no pictures.
  • Your hotel room – Even if it’s nothing exciting, it’s fun to be able to look back and see where you stayed. I always include a picture of the hotel room when I make photo books. (Hint: Do it as soon as you get the room, before you unpack and everything is still nice and neat!)
  • YOU! – If you’re the one that always takes all of the pictures, you’ll probably notice that you’re not in many of them. So even if you don’t like asking others to take your picture, just turn the camera around, and take a picture of yourself and whoever your with! Sometimes the pictures come out silly, but sometimes they come out great, and you’ll see what fun you were having on your vacation.
  • Nature – it’s always nice to have a few pictures of flowers or trees with the different places you’re visiting. Plus you’ll remember more about your trip, the time of year…temperature, etc.
  • …You get the point. Anything that will jog a memory or be something you’d like to remember, take a picture of it!

Tip: Not the type of person that wants to take a picture of your food while you’re eating at a restaurant? Or feel awkward in a certain situation? Don’t be. These days you can just take out your cell phone and take a picture. People will just think you’re using your phone…and while the quality may not be as good as with your camera, you’ll still get that picture!

I hope you enjoyed the tips. I can’t tell you how many times just a few months after I get back from a vacation I forget something about the vacation that I really wish I had remembered…and this definitely helps a lot!

Enjoy,
Jessica
