It’s almost the Fourth of July.

Hopefully you’ve started planning your summer vacation. If you’re going away, make sure you check the state of your luggage ahead of time.

When I went to Alaska a few years ago, when I got to Vancouver and picked up my luggage, I noticed a small hole in the luggage. It made it through the cruise OK, but by the time I arrived home, the luggage was really bad shape.

I put it away, and promptly forgot about it until about 3 weeks before my trip.

So if you need new luggage, now is the time to look, not the night before you go on your trip.

Macy’s often has good sales, and a holiday is a great time to buy something like luggage, since you’ll find a large selection on sale. I’ve previously purchased luggage at Macy’s, and it lasted a long time – almost 10 years…until that unfortunate incident in Alaska.  It was still an amazing trip though!
