Back in April I went to Hershey, Pennsylvania for a mini vacation. It was just two full days, and one night.

We were looking for a hotel that was nice, inexpensive, and close to the Hershey attractions. It didn’t have to be fancy, but we wanted it to be nice since it was a mini-vacation after all, and we knew that we would be spending some time there at night.

After a search online, the Fairfield Inn & Suites Hershey – Chocolate Avenue came up as a winner. It was brand new, so there were no reviews, but the pictures looked really nice, and the location was perfect.  The price was also a lot better than some of the other nearby hotels.  Oh, and did I mention that there was free breakfast included? Talk about a great bonus!

When we got there, we found out that the hotel had opened less than 2 weeks before. The room looked brand new, because of course it was.

As you can see, the beds look really comfortable, and they were. It was a nice sized room, and had everything we needed.

The bathroom was huge. Most hotel bathrooms are really small, and you hardly have room to move around at all, but there was a lot of room in the bathroom. My only tip is that the hair dryer is stored OUTSIDE of the bathroom, so if you plan on drying your hair before coming out of the bathroom, remember to take the hair dryer in with you before your shower. I found that out the hard way.

I was really surprised with the in-room amenities. I had read about it of course but completely forgot, but in the room was both a small refrigerator as well as a microwave.

If you like bringing food from home, or want to be able to store and heat up your leftovers, these are great to have!

Even though we were only there overnight, we used the fridge to keep our water bottles cool for the next morning. I’m sure if we were there longer we would have put leftovers in it as well.

The breakfast the next morning was great. There was a large area to eat with plenty of tables, and a bunch of choices for breakfast.

I’d tell you exactly what, but as I am NOT a morning person, I just remember seeing quite a few things I would eat, and that I picked up a few of them and ate them, in silence while I tried to wake up!

If you’re looking for a hotel that’s near the Hershey attractions, but don’t want to pay the high fees of the Hershey Hotels but still want to stay in a nice hotel, I strongly suggest the Fairfield Inn & Suites Hershey Chocolate Avenue. Our drive to the attractions was less than 5 minutes, and it was a very easy drive. The price was great too. Granted we went in April, but at $110 it was a lot less than most of the hotels in the area for that same night.
