ShuttleFare Review: Transportation to and from the Airport

A few days ago, I wrote about ShuttleFare, and how they make it easy to book a shuttle to get from the airport to your hotel, and then back to the airport at the end of your trip.

I used ShuttleFare a little less than 2 years ago, and just wanted to share my experience with you. I’m hoping it will help if you’re on the fence about using them.

I had never been to San Francisco before, and was staying at the Holiday Inn Express, which is near Fisherman’s Wharf. I knew I didn’t want to rent a car for the trip, but wasn’t sure whether we should get a cab, or go with a shuttle.

I used the ShuttleFare website, and saw that the price was a LOT less than a cab would be, and booked it.

How did it work out for us?

It was great.

When I had booked it, I received an email confirmation that had this information in it:

“…Claim your luggage on the lower level. Proceed to the upper (departure) level and outside to the outer curb. Follow the blue SuperShuttle signs. Provide your SuperShuttle confirmation # to the SFO airport coordinator in blue jackets and they will arrange SuperShuttle transportation to your destination…”

It really was that easy. We got our luggage, followed the signs, and then gave the information to the person working for SuperShuttle, and before we knew it, we were on a shuttle headed for our hotel.

Granted it was almost two years ago so I might not remember every little detail, but I do know that there were a few other people on our shuttle, and we stopped at 2 other hotels before we were dropped off. Both of the hotels were close to ours, and I don’t feel that it took very long.

As far as when it was time to go back, If I remember correctly we called them the day before to tell them what time we needed to be picked up, and just waited for them in front of the hotel.

I think they were about 5 minutes late, but let’s face it. Any company that deals with having to pick people up and drop them off can’t give you an exact time…you always have to assume that it could be 5-10 minutes one way or another, and plan accordingly. So we weren’t upset. I’m pretty sure we were the last one picked up before going back to the airport.

I would definitely use them again, as long as the price was right. While I will always check out the price on their site before I booked another shuttle, I would still see always do my due diligence and make sure I was getting the best price.

But I was happy with the service, and would definitely use them again.
